Vetiver is also known as "Khus" or, "Khus Khus", vetiver is a plant widespread to the Indian subcontinent. Its popularity has grown in recent years because of its unique aroma and some of the health benefits related to the oil. It is extracted from vetiver roots through steam distillation.It has fresh, warm yet cooling, woody, earthy, and balsamic notes. Vetiver is a perennial grass, identical to lemongrass and citronella. It is found thin with rigid leaves and brownish-purple flowers.

 

Blends well with:

 

Ylang-ylang oil, Cedar wood oil, Tangerine oil, Lavender oil, Patchouli oil

 
  • To reduce irritation on hair, warm 3 tsp. of carrier oil such as jojoba then mix in 2 drops of vetiver essential oil and other essential oils. Massage this blend into the hair and wash with shampoo after some time.
  • For a massage, mix 3 drops of vetiver essential oil, 1 drop lavender essential oil, 1 drop lemon essential oil, and 1 drop of clary sage essential oil. The blend can stimulate and strengthen the reproductive system.
  • For massage, apply a few drops of vetiver oil to your feet and slowly massage the oil as it has grounding and calming effect on emotions.
  • Vetiver oil reduces inflammation in the circulatory and nervous systems because of its calming and cooling effects.
  • It is also used as a remedy for the effects of dehydration and heat illness.
  • Vetiver is widely known for its aphrodisiac effects. It facilitates the areas of the brain associated with libido and enhances sexual desire.
  • Vetiver oil speeds up the healing of scars. It promotes skin growth and is useful for stretch marks, scars, burns, and other skin issues.
  • Vetiver is safe in small amounts. There is not enough valid data to know that vetiver is safe if used in medicine. Before using vetiver oil, a skin test is recommended. Vetiver Oil should not be used near the eyes, inner nose, and ears, or on any other sensitive areas of skin.
