Thyme essential oil is extracted from plant through steam/hydro distillation. Thyme is an herb in the mint family, which is often used as a spice in cooking. Aside from adding flavor, the herb also has medicinal properties. The oil has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant effects that treat everything. Thyme is also used in common mouthwashes, face masks, and nasal sprays.
Blends well with:
Bergamot oil, Grapefruit oil, Lavender oil, and Rosemary oil
- Thyme oil can be used for the sugar scrub by combining 1 cup of white sugar and 1/4 cup of preferred carrier oil with 5 drops each of thyme, lemon, and grapefruit Oil. Apply the scrub onto wet skin in the shower to exfoliate in circular motions to reveal brighter, smoother skin.
- Thyme oil acts as a mouthwash for maintaining your oral health. Add a drop of the oil to a cup of warm water and use it as a mouthwash.
- It works as an anti-inflammatory drug. Take and dab a few drops of thyme essential oil on your temples and forehead. At last, gently rub it into your skin and wash it out.
- For treating acne, you can use thyme oil along with witch hazel oil. Blend the two in hot water for about 20 minutes. Then, use a cotton ball to apply to the affected areas and wait for 20 minutes and wash with warm water.
- Thyme oil works as a tonic and has a strengthening effect on both the body and the mind.
- Thyme oil improves scrapes, sunburn, and skin infections also inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.
- Thyme oil consists of antimicrobial properties that help clear the skin, reduce texture issues, and achieve a radiant complexion.
- Thyme oil also improves the immune system and contributes to overall health and well-being. It facilitates the digestive system and helps alleviate bloating.
- Essential oils are volatile, and their use comes with risks. Essential oils should not be used during the pregnancy, and you should consult a doctor before using oils later in pregnancy.
